Selkirk College is also home to over 311 international students, from 26 countries, studying in 25 program areas and 127 Aboriginal learners study in more than 30 program areas. Selkirk College also offers transfer courses that enable students to transfer to a university to pursue their degree. The college is located in a world-class outdoor setting that provides incredible recreational opportunities for students in both their studies and leisure time.
Stanley Humphries Secondary School (8-12) offers a unique experience for students. We offer French Immersion and Russian Language programs along with a rich and comprehensive variety of subjects and activities for our students.
Other highlights are the Transition to Trades programs (in conjunction with Selkirk College) in Carpentry, Welding, Millwright Machining, Metal Fabrication, Electrical, Hairdressing, and Chef Program. We boast a wide variety of electives such as BC First Nations Studies 12, Psychology, Leadership 10-12, Digital Multimedia 11, Strength and Conditioning 11-12, Science and Technology 11, with strong Art, Drama, and Foods departments. SHSS is also supported by an excellent Special Needs Department. Stanley Humphries offers a wide range of athletic opportunities fielding teams for nearly all sports and also runs a music program off the timetable
Robson Community School offers students from K-7 a meaningful educational experience while meeting the unique needs of all of our students. These needs are very diverse and as such, a very collaborative, communicative approach is developed with our staff, students, and families. With 175 students enrolled in our school, the staff is committed to developing responsible, respectful, resilient, capable, and supportive citizens.
Situated in Robson, our school has a very strong community spirit and a climate, which welcomes all community members. The staff is committed to educating and caring for all students and to meet the needs of the “Whole Child”. We work collaboratively to offer a wide range of activities for children and their families during the school day and beyond, to address the significant social, emotional, and academic needs of our students. To extend the educational experience, our school hosts a Strong Start Centre, offering a variety of activities for preschoolers and their families, as well as an After School Care Program. With these partnerships, the educational community at Robson Community School strives to develop a strong foundation for lifelong learning by providing a rich educational program while enabling our students to be socially and emotionally capable.
Twin Rivers Elementary School (3-7) is a modern elementary school located in the downtown area of Castlegar. Twin Rivers, as a pilot this year, is offering early French Immersion (beginning in Kindergarten), as well as housing the Late French Immersion Program for grades 6 and 7. Castlegar Primary School (K-2) is located right next door to Twin Rivers and strives to develop foundations for lifelong learning and encouraging a strong connection between our school and the child’s home is imperative to our staff.
Kinnaird Elementary School (K-7) provides hands-on learning experiences in a caring, family atmosphere where parents and volunteers are welcome. We provide a variety of extra-curricular activities, which include outdoor gardening and a wetlands pond, and promote wellness and nurturing of the whole child.
